Study Reveals Each Tourist Visiting Antarctica Melts Up to 83 Metric Tons of Snow
Antarctica became more accessible during the 2019-20 season, about 74,000 tourists came to explore the remote continent, with the majority arriving by ship. There have been increased scientific activities taking place in the continent, with over 70 research stations housing thousands of researchers. It was estimated that each visitor melted about 83 metric tons of snow between 2016 and 2020.
