Meteorologists Monitor Tropical Storm Karl in the Gulf of Mexico

A recent weather update showed that meteorologists have been monitoring the development of a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico.

Residents and communities near the Gulf of Mexico should be alert to the potential impacts of the tropical storm.

Based on the latest from the National Hurricane Center, the advisory said Tropical Storm Karl formed in the Bay of Campeche and slowly moving northwestward.

Furthermore, a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued over portions of Southeastern Mexico as tropical storm Karl could unleash heavy rainfall in the next couple of days. In addition, Marine Warnings are in effect for the Gulf of Mexico.

The same day, the National Hurricane Center monitoring advised that the Karl over the Bay of Campeche managed to become better organized as a storm.

Meanwhile, the NHC's key advisory on October 11, 2022 (4:00 p.m, CDT) announced that tropical storm Karl could bring heavy rainfall to flash flooding in the areas of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the southern Sierra Madre, noting potential mudslides in the areas with higher terrain.

The advisory also said that tropical conditions could emerge in portions of Mexico starting Tuesday.

Based on AccuWeather's latest weather update on October 12, 2022 (6:15 a.m, PHT), Tropical Storm Karl was recorded with (65 km/h) maximum sustained winds, moving northwest at six mph (9 km/h). The report added that Karl is now the 11th storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season.

AccuWeather also reported that the tropical storm watch is present on the coast of Mexico, Cabo Rojo, southward to Puerto Veracruz, noting that parts of Veracruz could experience heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, Julia weakened after losing its intensity. Julia caused flooding and heavy rains in parts of Nicaragua. The remnants could still bring rain despite the storm weakening and finally dissipating.
