Scientists Sequence Norwegian Spruce, Will Benefit Forest Industry: Scientists Say
Canadian and Swedish scientists have sequenced the genome of the Norway spruce, a giant evergreen native to Europe that has also been planted widely in parts of North America and is commonly known as the Christmas tree. The discovery stands to drastically cut the time required to grow the trees and help them resist pest infestation.
