Salmonella Infections in US
In the latest news reports, the infections were reported in 22 states in the US with hospitalizations. CDC reported that the infections could become dangerous to older adults, people with medical conditions and children.
Americans should not eat the said food to avoid the illnesses associated with salmonella. The case managed to double after the last report on January 19. The recent details showed that at least 10 people were hospitalized with 47 reported illnesses.
Authorities are also expected to determine if other products are contaminated. People should be extra careful in buying the said food products.
If they consume the infected supplies, homeowners should watch out for signs of salmonella. Severe cases can become dangerous to vulnerable sectors.
Salmonella infection is more common in the summer or warming conditions.
Salmonella Outbreak Safety and Preparedness
Preventing salmonella is helpful to avoid getting sick or infected. Understanding the different safety steps can lower the chance of salmonella in every household in the US.
People can become infected by food and animals. Chicken, eggs, vegetables and pork could have bacteria from salmonella. When homeowners hear reports or food safety advisories, they should immediately keep away from the reported food.
According to the advisory, salmonella can easily spread to other people. Washing hands or bringing sanitizers can kill salmonella or prevent the risk of infection, especially when they become exposed to animal feces or changing diapers.
If you have any pets, cleaning their cage or contents will reduce the outbreak of salmonella in your house or community.
In the kitchen, utensils should be washed. People should also wash uncooked poultry and fruits. When cooking, thorough cooking of meat will kill the bacteria.
