Light Rain, Area of High Pressure To Hit Mid-Atlantic US in Late Week, NWS Forecasts

Light rain and areas of high pressure will be likely in the Mid-Atlantic, bringing relief from the extreme cold in parts of the US. The National Weather Service (NWS) said that Central and parts of the Eastern US can anticipate very mild temperatures on Christmas holiday weekend.

The NWS advisory reported that the Plains and Midwest can anticipate 15 to 25 degrees above normal in the said areas due to the increasing southern flow.

In addition, warmer temperatures are also likely in parts of the Mid-South, Ohio Valley and East Coast. In Southern California, thunderstorms and heavy rain can be likely, including in Southern Arizona.
