The heatwave being experienced in the southwestern region of the United States is most likely to expand and cover other areas such as those in the central and eastern areas.

According to a BBC report, the high temperature will expand from the Midwest to as far as the southern portion of Florida by Wednesday.

Some 59 million Americans are also placed under heat advisories because of record-breaking temperatures across the major cities during the weekend.

A report on NBC News underscored that hot and dangerous conditions have been considered as normal to experience in some areas in the West, in Texas as well as in Florida.

"These summer conditions will build and expand across the Eastern two-thirds of the country this week, starting in the north-central states and Plains," the National Weather Service has forecasted.

Heat warnings, advisories

Weather experts have already raised excessive heat warnings and heat advisories across many areas in the US, such as some parts of California, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, the Dakotas, the desert Southwest and Texas, as well as the southern tip of Florida.

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service also noted that three high pressure systems of the type associated with high temperature have been expected to move over the interior West, the Midwest and the Northeast, and Florida.

Amid the blazing heat being experienced by the public, it is believed that the heat wave's geographic expansion through at least Wednesday could be dampened and eased by forecasted thunderstorms in areas such as the mid-Atlantic, the South and along the Gulf Coast.

People in the Midwest were warned that they could encounter high temperatures near 100 degrees this week while those residing in the Northeast experience 90 degrees, a Yahoo News said.

The report noted that in Phoenix, residents had felt a record-breaking temperature after the city hit its 24th consecutive day with temperatures that exceed 100 degrees.

Meanwhile, experts discovered that the ocean temperatures in South Florida and the Keys could reach unprecedented highs because the heatwave is seen to expand towards the east in the coming days.

The BBC Weather explained that this heatwave could be due to the heat dome, which is a large area of high pressure. This heatwave has been caused by a heat dome or a large area of high pressure.

"Through this week, the heat dome will expand, bringing hotter weather and above average temperatures to pretty much the whole of continental US," BBC Weather meteorologist Simon King said.

Health concerns, other effects

Amid this excessive heat, the public is being cautioned to look after themselves as this could lead to health concerns and illnesses. Reports said that at least four individuals have died in the Southwest due to heat-related matters.

The Centers for Disease Control and PreventionHo already issued some precautionary measures on how to take care of one's health despite the heat. These include:

- Choose and wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing;

- Stay in cool indoors;

- Limit outdoor activities;

- Drink plenty of water

- Regularly wear sunscreen; and

- Avoid hot and heavy meals.
