Poor air quality in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic
In the latest weather forecast, AccuWeather reported that the Canadian wildfire smoke caused decreased air quality in the Midwest and portions of the Mid-Atlantic.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that over 120 million people could become affected by poor air quality. The report noted that air quality concerns emerged in Midwest and East Coast areas.
New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Illinois could anticipate the possible impact of the Canadian smoke in their areas.
According to the Metropolitan Council of Governments (MWCOG), Washington D.C. was under the Code Red Alert for decreased air quality on Thursday.
The advisory noted the unhealthy air, urging people with asthma, lung and heart disease to stay home or avoid outdoor activities.
Wearing N95 is also helpful to protect from the smoke, but the advisory said to limit outdoor travel.
AccuWeather reported that air quality concerns also emerged in Milwaukee, which has been unusual.
CNN reported that Canada experienced a challenging wildfire season, as many burning wildfire areas went out of control.
Challenging heat waves in the Southern US
On the contrary, the latest advisory from the NWS Weather Prediction Center reported that Southern US suffered from challenging heat due to soaring temperatures in the area.
The advisory added that the hazardous heat would continue through Independence Day.
Meanwhile, the forecast explained that the soaring heat would expand in the East, Lower Mississippi Valley and Mid-South portions.
Outdoor workers and older adults can become at risk of hotter conditions, such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion. It is best to look for cooler areas or avoid outdoor activities under the hotter outlook.
The forecast noted that there could be a slight relief from the heat this coming weekend in Texas and Mid-South.
Meanwhile, residents in the Gulf and South could still notice the troublesome heat conditions.
Based on the AccuWeather heat outlook, possible heat waves would unfold in El Paso, Lubbock, San Antonio, Houston, Oklahoma, Miami, Jacksonville, St. Louis and Wichita.
Heat could become noticeable on the weekend in Los Angeles and San Franciso.
