Large great white shark sightings are occasionally recorded off the US shores. It's not unusual to observe the same shark in different places because these sharks travel great distances.
Although great white sharks typically range in length from 11 to 15 feet, there are likely great white sharks out there that put this average to shame. The following list includes the top 5 biggest great white sharks seen off US coasts:
#5 Maple at 11 Feet and 7 Inches
Great white shark Maple, 11 feet 7 inches long, was tagged for the first time in Canada in 2021. She has since traveled down to the Gulf of Mexico. However, she has been seen frequently going up and down the East Coast. She is a massive monster that weighs over 1,200 pounds. Maple was tracked 43 miles off the northern coast of Florida in March 2023.
Numerous sharks are tracked by the nonprofit organization OCEARCH, which also makes available open-source information regarding their migratory patterns. the Gulf of Mexico has been where Maple has spent the previous two winters.
#4 Ironbound at 12 Feet and 4 Inches
A big male shark named Ironbound was tagged for the first time in 2019 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He is 996 pounds and has a height of 12 feet 4 inches. The shark was given the name West Ironbound after the nearby island in Lunenburg where he was discovered. Since being tagged, Ironbound has traveled around 13,000 kilometers. But in 2022, his tracker ping-ponged along the New Jersey shore.
#3 Breton at 13 Feet
One of the biggest great white sharks off the coasts of the US that have been tagged by OCEARCH is named Breton. He is a big, strong male, about 13 feet long, and he weighs around 1,437 pounds. Breton was first marked by this NGO in September 2020 close to Nova Scotia. But in March 2023, his tracker sent a signal near the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Every time the shark's dorsal fin breaks the surface, these electronic trackers will ping. Breton is thought to be traveling from the Florida Keys to Canada following the migratory routes used by other great whites in the Atlantic.
Breton also made an appearance in 2022, near the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which greatly alarmed locals. Fortunately, OCEARCH calmed locals by stating that the enormous shark was at least 60 miles offshore, according to reports from FOX8.
#2 Haole Girl at 20 Feet
This female initially appeared off the shore of Oahu in January 2019. The shark, known as Haole Girl, is depicted in the film to be 20 feet long and 8 feet broad. Haole Girl was pregnant when she was discovered and was initially mistaken for the first-ranker great white shark, Deep Blue, according to Cape Radd. Unfortunately, there isn't much information available about this behemoth, so perhaps there will be another sighting soon.

#1 Deep Blue at 20 Feet
A huge female who has been seen a few times throughout the years takes the top rank. Deep Blue is her moniker, and she initially came to public attention in the 1990s. But it wasn't until 2013 that the first video of her was filmed. In 2014, she also made an appearance in the "Jaws Strikes Back" part of Shark Week. This enormous shark weighs over 2.5 tons and is a staggering 20 feet long!
Deep Blue has never had a tag attached, therefore researchers usually look for her in the usual places she had been, AZ Animals reports.
