As April comes to its final days, the latest weather report showed that the Central and Southern Plains are forecast to receive beneficial rain this week, helping drought-affected areas.

Some parts of the United States began to experience chilly and freezing weather conditions, especially in portions of the Great Lakes, Midwest, and Northeast.

During the beginning of April, the United States experienced severe weather conditions, isolated tornadoes, and a rebound to warm-like temperatures.

In a previous forecast, the National Weather Service (NWS) explained that strong and potentially severe thunderstorms could impact parts of the U.S., especially in Southern Texas.

  • Motorists traveling this week should monitor the weather for possible isolated tornadoes and thunderstorms.
  • Recently, NWS also warned of a strong cold front in parts of the East. In addition, cooler temperatures are forecast in parts of the Plains and MS Valley.

In the latest weather forecast, AccuWeather reported that a slow-moving storm system is expected to unleash beneficial rainfall in parts of the Central and Southern Plains.

The forecast explained that the much-needed rain would be helpful to address the prolonged drought in the affected areas.

Although the rain would be beneficial, motorists and homeowners should observe the weather conditions, as the rain could result in potential flash flooding and heavy rain.

According to the forecast, much-needed rainfall is forecast from Monday to Wednesday in parts of Dodge City, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Austin, and Houston.

The challenging weather could be problematic for motorists. As a result, it is best to stay at home when the outlook becomes severe.

In other parts of the United States, Reuters recently reported that the snowy and rainy conditions helped bolster the snowpack in the region, addressing the drought conditions.

On the other hand, AccuWeather explained that drought conditions are also present in parts of Kansas, Colorado, Northern Texas, and Oklahoma.

  • Based on the drought monitor, drought conditions are forecast in Las Vegas, Cedar City, El Paso, Odessa, Lubbock, Albuquerque, Garden City, Scottsbluff, Omaha, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.

Drought can affect agricultural products and farmers. The rainy conditions will become helpful to farmers, especially the water supply.

Severe thunderstorms

Recently, the NWS reported that scattered thunderstorms were forecast in parts of Central Texas, Northeast, and Carolinas.

Meanwhile, AccuWeather's outlook on Tuesday showed that severe thunderstorms could result in large hail, local flash flooding, and damaging wind, especially in Wichita Falls, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.

This week, unseasonably cool weather is forecast in Billings, Denver, Kansas City, Chicago, New York, and Boston.

  • Wet weather conditions are forecast in Houston and Jacksonville.

The weather this week is helpful for the drought-stricken areas. However, the threat of severe thunderstorms and local flash flooding is possible.
