Spring has officially arrived, and warmer temperatures are on the way for the United Kingdom, according to the Met Office, which predicted that temperatures will rise in the coming days.
Although many people are experiencing a cold and frosty start to the week, the temperature is expected to rise overall as the week progresses, reaching double digits by the middle of the week, according to the forecaster.
Easter Snow As Wintry Maps Turn Blue
The Met Office has questioned forecasts indicating that the Easter weekend will be cold, with another chill expected to hit the UK.
WXCHARTS interactive weather models show a potential winter deluge moving across the country starting Saturday, April 8 - the first Bank Holiday weekend of the year.
Temperatures in Scotland could drop to -6 degrees Celsius, with snow falling shortly after.
However, the Met Office's in-house experts told Express.co.uk that "the country is looking more like spring every day."
According to WXCharts, which uses MetDesk data, snow will fall to a depth of six centimeters over high ground in Scotland on April 8.
Snowfall maps show the highest totals in Yorkshire and Scotland, with layers ranging from one to two centimeters elsewhere.
By Sunday, April 9, snow probability maps indicate a 20 to 25% chance of more wintry conditions in the same areas.
However, the Met Office predicts that the weather will remain similar to what it is now, albeit with some "unsettled" spells.
Stephen Dixon told Express.co.uk that forecasts this far in advance have some "inbuilt uncertainty."
Looking ahead to the weekend, he noted a "trend" in the UK's weather pattern.
The "general trend" of that forecast is currently "more settled," with some "wetter interludes" possible.
"There may be some wetter interludes, particularly in the southern half of the UK," he said.
As spring progresses, the country will become increasingly warm, with forecasters predicting temperatures in the mid-teens this week.
Temperatures will begin to rise sharply on Wednesday, March 29, according to Met Office meteorologist Rachel Ayers.
Warmer Temperatures Due To Hit UK
Many parts of the country will continue to see showers and strong winds, but temperatures will begin to settle and approach the average for this time of year as the week progresses and we enter the warmer season, as per the Independent.
On Monday, a few showers will be feeding across the coasts of east Scotland and east England, but it will mostly be a dry day with good sunny spells.
Light winds will persist, but despite the colder air, the weather will be most pleasant.
Moving on to the weekend, some dry weather is expected in parts of the north and east on Friday, but heavy rain and strong winds will move in from the west or southwest through the day.
The details are uncertain, but the heaviest rain and strongest winds are expected to hit parts of the south and west.
By April, there is a better chance of drier weather in the north, albeit with some overnight frost.
Further south, there is a greater chance of more rain at times.
Overall, temperatures are expected to average out close to normal.
