Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon are once again in danger of receiving low-elevation snow, with areas in the Washington Cascades slated to receive up to 25 inches of snow, while the nearby areas could only receive six inches.
Snow Threats Up to 25 Inches
The Oregon Coast Range and the Cascades are under a Winter Storm Warning.
There could be four to six inches of snow in the Coast Range above 1500 feet, but more snow is possible, while 15 to 25 inches of snow are possible in the Cascades at pass level.
Additionally, a Special Weather Statement has been issued indicating that Thursday night and Friday night could see snow accumulations reaching an inch at the valley floor.
Travelers crossing the Coast Range or the Cascades should prepare for hazardous and challenging conditions.
Snow levels can drop as low as 500 feet, according to KATU meteorologist Rhonda Shelby, and denser showers may push the snow level all the way to the valley floor.
It will be possible to dust some areas on both Thursday and Friday mornings.
There will be thunderstorms, showers, and a mix of snow and rain.
According to KATU, the weather will be extremely unpredictable through Saturday afternoon.
The Winter Storm Warning covers Oregon, the Northern Oregon Cascades, and the Cascades in Lane County, as well as Washington's South Washington Cascades, as per the National Weather Service.
The warning will last until 5 PM on Saturday, and officials warn that travel could be very difficult.

The service also issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective over the Cascade mountains and valleys of Snohomish and King Counties, which include Stevens Pass and Snoqualmie Pass; and the Pierce and Lewis Counties' Cascade mountains and valleys, which include the Paradise on Mount Rainier and the Crystal Mountain Ski Area.
The advisory will remain in effect until 5 AM on Saturday.
