Monkey Bites
Monkeys typically only attack once they feel threatened or mistakenly interpret body language or even facial expressions as aggression, according to data from the World Health Organization, which estimated that between 2% and 21% of animal bite injuries result from monkey bites.
According to the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, since 1990, captive primates have caused one death and more than 280 injuries to people.
50 primates were put down as a result of this.
After attacking Parker, the monkey fled but was shot dead by a member of her family.
Two shots were fired while they were searching for the primate, according to Tim Duncan, the police chief for Dickson.
The shots were fired from the vicinity of the victim's residence.
When the police returned to the scene, they discovered that the primate had already been killed.
Parker was transported to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore and later to the OU Medical Trauma Center in Oklahoma City for medical attention for her wounds as well as to get a rabies shot.
Parker cannot work due to her injury, and she will require plastic surgery on her ear.
According to locals, the monkey was a neighbor's pet, KOKH reported.
A local posted a video of the monkey on their porch to TikTok, in which they can be seen being lunged at as they open the door by the monkey.
The owner of the video described how the monkey bit off "some woman's" ear in a later video, in which he also shows the police at the scene.

Domesticated Monkey in Oklahoma
Primates are categorized as domesticated animals, so keeping a pet monkey in Oklahoma is legal and does not require a permit.
Zebras, kangaroos, and camels are a few additional species that Oklahomans are allowed to own without a permit because they are considered to be domesticated.
However, Parker worries about the security of neighbors who live close to a monkey owner.
