When heavy snow, rain, and gusty winds arrive in Arizona, where there are at least 10 weather alerts in effect.
This morning, a powerful winter storm crosses Arizona and approaches the state. In the mountains, there is already significant snowfall, and valleys will soon see rain.
Rains and Gusty Winds
Expect a high of 63 degrees and mostly cloudy skies for the entire day in the Valley metro area. While rain is possible all day, it is most likely to fall this afternoon and into the evening as a cold front passes through. Be prepared for winds to increase to 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to about 40 mph. Today and tonight, there is a near 30% chance of rain, with the Valley likely to receive about an inch and the foothills to the east and north of town likely to receive about a half inch.
Wind Advisory and Heavy Snow
From 3 PM to 8 PM, there is a wind advisory in place for areas in Arizona. Southern Arizona is likely to experience gusts up to nearly 55 mph, which could result in blowing dust today.
Parts of Interstate 40 were already closed this morning due to the expected heavy snowfall in the high country, and the day's travel conditions are expected to get worse.
Snow accumulations of up to 21 inches trigger Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories in some areas. Today's blizzard conditions will also be accompanied by strong winds and blowing snow.
Tomorrow morning, snow showers will start to diminish statewide. Snow levels are expected to drop to 1,500 feet tomorrow, and some early morning snow showers are also possible in the Valley metro area. After that, according to officials, it will be a sunny but chilly day with a high of only 57 degrees, Arizona's Family reports.

At Least 10 Weather Alerts Across Arizona
According to the National Weather Service, other than multiple wind advisories, Arizona is under several other weather alerts.
Multiple Winter Storm Warnings
A Winter Storm Warning over areas in Black Mesa Area, Chuska Mountains, and Defiance Plateau will be in effect until 11 AM Thursday. Blowing snow is expected in some areas, making roads slippery, as well as 14-inch snow in high areas.
In Chiricahua, Dragoon, Mule, Huachuca, Santa Rita, Galiuro, Pinaleno, Santa Catalina, and Rincon Mountains, Eastern Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Southeast Pinal Counties, Upper Gila and Upper Santa Cruz Rivers, Aravaipa, and Altar Valleys, and Upper San Pedro River Valley, the alert will also last until 11 AM Thursday as some areas may have snows reaching 14 inches.
Meanwhile, in Coconino Plateau, Grand Canyon Country, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, and Western Mogollon Rim, the alert will expire by 8 AM Thursday with 21 inches of snow.
Flood Warning
In Gale, flooding is anticipated to persist through the following week as a result of ongoing snowmelt and additional rainfall, so a Flood Warning will be in effect.
Health and Weather in Arizona
With strong gusty winds persisting in the area, AccuWeather warns residents of high levels of mold, dust, and dander for the day. Triggers for arthritis are also on high levels and will slowly wane down to low levels by Sunday.
