The beginning of the week could be challenging for many Americans planning for Christmas this week as the weather could produce rounds of rain and snow.

Heavy rain and snow

According to AccuWeather's latest forecast, December 13, the report said that severe weather conditions could produce snow, coastal flooding and icy conditions in the Northeast.

The forecast added that heavy rain with strong wind gusts could emerge in Washington D.C, Philadelphia, Boston and New York City, resulting in travel hazards due to slick roads and poor visibility.

  • In terms of rain, it is expected that portions of Philadelphia and Washington DC could expect rain starting Thursday.
  • New York residents could prepare for the worst of the storm from Thursday night to Friday.
  • The forecast added that Boston residents could see rainy conditions from Friday to Saturday.

Since December began and the meteorological winter was announced, severe weather conditions have been a concern in the country.

On the other hand, the forecast said portions of Virginia and New Jersey could feel the storm as it develops.

According to AccuWeather, the forecast said snow could unload from Thursday until Saturday.

The snow is expected in Detroit, Pittsburg, Washington D.C, New York, Boston, Montreal and Bangor.

  • The forecast added inches of snow could also unfold in portions of Pennsylvania, upstate New York and central to northern New England.

People who travel outside should wear raincoat protection or bring an umbrella despite the weather conditions.

Flooding rainfall

The forecast also monitored potential coastal hazards due to heavy rain.

Based on AccuWeather's coastal hazards outlook showed that minor coastal flood and beach erosion could emerge on Thursday night until Friday night, affecting portions of Virginia Beach, Portland, Boston, New York City and Atlantic City.

Residents near the affected coastal areas should observe the weather conditions for potential onshore winds and coastal flooding.

On the other hand, the weather forecast noted that icy conditions are also expected from Wednesday night until Thursday.

AccuWeather reported that the ice potential could cause slippery travel, accumulated sleet and noticeable ice glazes on power lines and trees.

The ice conditions could impact DC, Roanoke and State College.

Motorists traveling to the 1-81 corridor in Virginia and north Maryland should look into the weather, as the ice conditions could be challenging and problematic.

Ultimately, the weather outlook for the late week showed that colder weather could unfold in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, El Paso, Denver, Billings, Dallas, Kansas City and Memphis.

Meanwhile, Chicago residents could expect a wintry mix, and Minneapolis could see more snow.

On the other hand, rain with potential thunderstorms could emerge in Miami, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Washington DC, New York and Boston.
