A Cold Weather Alert 3 was issued on Wednesday, December 7, in England due to the cold-related health risks that could affect vulnerable sectors.

According to the previous report, freezing weather and wintry showers could emerge this week as many people in England plan for Christmas Holiday and shopping.

The colder weather is expected until December 12.

However, heating would be expensive, requiring health and social services to protect older people and vulnerable people during the cold weather.

In The Guardian weather news on December 8, the temperatures could reach -10c at night.

The forecast added that snow and frost could also emerge in Northern Scotland.

However, the forecast explained that warmer weather could occur in the southwest starting Tuesday, which could offer a break from the colder weather.

Residents in the reported cold weather alert should maintain a heating system.

Prolonged exposure to colder weather could lead to health risks like hypothermia.

Furthermore, the report added that frost, snow showers and icy areas could be noticeable from Wednesday night until Thursday, affecting portions of northern Scotland, Eastern England, Northern Ireland and Northern Wales.

Meanwhile, the report added that a yellow weather alert was issued.

The Met Office explained cold conditions could persist, adding that Northern Scotland could experience colder conditions.

Emergency accommodation

On the other hand, a severe weather emergency was issued, offering homeless individuals with shelter during the coldest night and drop in temperatures in the U.K.

Londoners are also asked to report homeless people sleeping on the streets during the colder weather.

They could report using the Streetlink app.

Snow and freezing temperatures will unfold as the colder weather continues until the end of the week.

A heating system would help ease the cold.

Colder weather health risks

Previous reports added that colder weather could result in health risks for people without heating systems, older people and other vulnerable sectors.

Some families who cannot afford the heating system prefer to turn it off.

Here are some important tips during the colder weather alert.

Maintain heat inside your home

Although the forecast said colder weather could be felt at night, mornings would help alleviate the cold weather.

Your family must maintain a heating system inside your home. You could set up a schedule at night to turn on your heating system when the weather drops at its lowest.

Wearing the appropriate layered clothes could help alleviate the heat. In addition, preparing warm food like nutritious soup would be the best during the coldest nights.

Travel concerns

Due to wet and snow conditions, Slick roads could be extremely dangerous. If you plan to travel outdoors, it is best to do so in the mornings or check the weather updates and road hazards.
