Britons as of Sunday, November 6, were battling heavy downpours and flash floods that left some cars submerged and rail stations forced to shut down as the stormy weather batters Southeast England or the South East, according to the Daily Mail UK.

Both the UK's Met Office and Environment Agency issued alerts and warnings pertaining to the persistent torrential rain and flooding.

Yellow Met Office Warning

The Met Office issued a yellow warning at 11 p.m. UTC time on Sunday which means that heavy showers are likely to cause further flooding in some places.

Based on the UK weather agency's website, the warning pertains to affected parts of Southeast England, particularly for the city of Brighton and its surrounding areas.

The agency added that the public should expect the following damage or disruption to be caused by the inclement weather in the coming hours:

  • Floodwaters entering several homes and businesses are likely.
  • Affected bus and train services could experience delayed journey times.
  • Road flooding can also affect road traffic movement and journey times.

The yellow Met Office warning is only valid until 10:00 on Monday, November 7.

However, it could either be updated or extended depending on the weather conditions in England and other parts of the UK in the coming hours and days.
