According to the latest forecasts, Hurricane Lisa made landfall near Belize City, which could result in storm surges in the nearby areas.
Residents nearby are advised to prepare for the impact of the Hurricane.
In the latest weather update on November 3, 2022, AccuWeather reported that Lisa developed into a Category 1 Hurricane on Wednesday.
It was the 12th 2022 season named system and the sixth in the Hurricane the same year.
Additionally, the brewing system that weather forecasts monitored, named Martin became a Category 1 Hurricane.
Before the storm was about to make landfall, the National Hurricane Center observed the storm's progress.
In the latest report, Hurricane Lisa was located about 5 miles south of Belize City. It was tracked moving to the west at 12 mph (19 km/h).
Hurricane Lisa's Impact
The report added that Hurricane Lisa was recorded with a recorded 85 mph (140 km/h) maximum sustained winds and higher gusts.
- Up to 15 miles (30 km), Hurricane-force winds would go outward.
- While the tropical-storm winds would set up to 70 miles (110 km).
- NHC added that 70 mph (115 km/h) wind gusts were recorded in Belize City.
- The storm estimated minimum central pressure would reach 29.24 inches.
Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center added that Hurricane conditions could unleash on Belize's coast, southeastern Yucatan Peninsula.
Additionally, portions of Guatemala and Yucatan with Tropical Warnings could expect tropical conditions.
- Four to six inches and local amounts to ten inches of rainfall could emerge in northern Guatemala, Belize, Quintana Roo, southern Campeche, north of Chiapas, and far eastern Veracruz and Tabasco.
- Meanwhile, two to four inches of rainfall (up to six inches in local amounts) could experience in areas of the Yucatan Peninsula's southeastern portion, Bay Islands of Honduras, South-central Campeche, and central Guatemala.
- Affected areas should watch out for potential flash flooding due to the rainfall amounts.
The storm surges should also be considered as Hurricane Lisa brings flooding rainfall.
According to the Hurricane Center, the Hurricane could bring a storm surge that could lead to rising water levels (from four to seven inches above normal), especially in Belize's coast and Yukacatan Peninsula's southeastern portions.
The report added that the storm surge could result in large and damaging waves, including areas in Honduras' eastern Yucatan and Bay Islands.
Moreover, Hurricane Lisa could also affect portions of Central America. The impact of the Hurricane could result in swells causing life-threatening surf and rip currents.

On the other hand, AccuWeather reported that Hurricane Lisa's impact through Friday could result in flooding rainfall, mudslides, power outages, dangerous seas, and damaging wind gusts.
Hurricane Lisa's rainfall could persist from Sunday to Friday in Belize City, Chetumal, Cancun, and Villahermosa.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Lisa starting Thursday, could unleash winds of 40 mph (60km/h) or higher.
