A dog was found along a highway in Essex region of England. While seems to be a normal case, local authorities discovered the canine was reported missing from Cornwall county almost a decade ago. The revelation came into light when authorities matched the description of a dog, apparently named Ruby, with a missing dog post in the county back in 2015. However, there was no claim of ownership yet.
Reported incidents of missing dogs in a short timeframe are common, spanning between days, weeks, and even months. While there are cases that pet dogs are reunited with their owners, there instances when such reunification does not happen. However, missing pet dogs spanning for several years or even a decade is deemed to be a rare occurrence, which Ruby the dog is the latest story.
Ruby the Dog
Ruby the dog was found running between cars along the busy Essex motorway called M11 in Harlow, which is located 300 miles Cornwall, where she was said to be first reported missing a decade ago, Cornwall Live reports. The likely former pet dog was seen on Saturday, October 22. Yet, no person or family has claimed her yet. Still, people are trying to figure out how to get her home.
Evidence of the initial identity of the lost dog came from an embedded microchip on Ruby discovered by local vets. Resident Lauren Benge was the one who found the pet and managed to send the animal to Kew Vets in Harlow, Essex. It is during this instance where it was discovered Ruby was chipped and reporting missing in 2015 from Cornwall, according to Cornwall Live.
2015 Missing Dog Post
The local media outlet said while there was no name or address of the owner of the dog on the microchip, but the dog has a collar on and appeared to be well taken care of. Despite the lack of information, Kew Vets told Cornwall Live that it contacted the number on the chip which initially rang and went to voicemail. However, the recipient number has been reported to had been either blocked or disconnected.
A volunteer from Dog Lost UK, a non-profit organization responsible for reuniting lost dogs with their owners, reportedly stated their group has already cross-checked the available details on the chip, which is already considered to be outdated. Yet, one thing is certain the dog was once or is called Ruby and she was chipped backed in 2013.
In addition, the organization said there is also another dog that was reported missing from Burnaby Road in Southend, Essex, that also fits the missing dog description same as Ruby.
The original missing dog post from an unspecified platform garnered over 300 comments and 7,500 shares as of Monday, October 24, as cited by Wales Online. Local sources said it is still unclear if Ruby had a new owner after being lost from Cornwall or she was all alone the entire she went missing in 2015.
