A wolf spider mom carrying her babes on the back was went viral on social media after Reddit user "u/tballey" uploaded a photo of it on the social media platform earlier this week.

While a known fact, the online community are still amazed yet terrified at the same time on the thought of a giant hairy spider carrying its younglings. Some have compared it to be a scene out of a horror movie about arachnids.

The viral Reddit post below garnered approximately 10,000 votes and received hundreds of comments. One user in the comment section requested for a favor of revealing the uploader's address in order to avoid going there. Some of the users responded they can be anywhere in the continental US but they are also widely distributed globally, except for Greenland and the Arctic.

The post has a caption that the user met a spider mom walker her babies during an evening stroll. One Reddit commenter also said the picture gave him or her goosebumps in spite of attempts to get over the fear of spiders; despite viewing it as a mother and her babies only it is still not working. Another user also expresses his or her distaste for flying bugs or spiders.

While wolf spiders and some other spider species are believed to be harmless to humans, there are some people who is unable to stop dreading these eight-legged freaks in a psychological condition of what is known as arachnophobia or fear of spiders.

Fear of spiders only becomes a phobia when it consumes one's thoughts and disrupts your daily activities, keeping you from socializing with family and friends. Some of the most evident arachnophobia symptoms include sweating, shaking, and tightening of chest, as well as rapid heartbeat, according to Cleveland Clinic.

2015 Viral Video

If you are an internet junkie, perhaps you might have stumbled upon a viral video several years ago relating to a spider mom and hundreds of baby wolf spiders.

In a YouTube video uploaded by National Geographic May 2015, it can be here that a man was shocked when a swarm of baby spiders came out after pressing down a broom on an apparent adult female wolf spider. The footage was reportedly taken in South Australia.

While there is a scientific explanation for the relation between a spider mother and her babies, the 2015 video likely increased awareness that sacking an adult female spider will only spread the younglings on her back.

Wolf Spiders

Wolf spiders belong to the family Lycosidae, which can also be found across Australia. They are considered as agile hunters that live on the ground, especially in leaf litter or burrows. Most of them are often found in gardens and lawns, according to the Australian Museum.

There are various species of a wolf spider, with differences in body color. Two of the most common Australian species are Tasmanicosa godeffroyi and Venatrix furcillata.
