Parts of the Midwest and Northeast will feel winterlike temperatures after forecasts said that the coldest air of the season is set starting this week.

Last week, Hurricane Ian caused massive damage to buildings and houses and widespread flooding, prompting Florida state officials to respond immediately.

Search and rescue operations have been ongoing in the city after reports of deaths from the Hurricane.

President Joe Biden is scheduled to check on the affected communities.

The coldest air of the season will alleviate the hot and warm temperatures in parts of the United States. In California, extreme heat waves led to power interruptions in the City in September.

According to AccuWeather's latest weather update on October 4, it said that forecasters see a feeling of winterlike cold that would offer a warmup in parts of the East.

On the other hand, the report said Midwest and Northeast would expect a cold temperature with a little snow.

The AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures forecasted that the temperature would reach the 20s overnight in the Midwest and Northeast.

On the other hand, AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Mike LeSeney explained that the weather this week is a reminder that the fall is underway.

Moreover, the report noted that lower temperatures with gusty winds would help chill the air to make it colder, with as high as 30 mph wind gusts.

LeSeney told AccuWeather that the colder weather could lead to snowfall in parts of the Trans-Canada Highway, northern Ontario on Thursday and western Quebec on Friday.

In addition, the forecasts added that Midwest on Thursday and Northeast by the weaken could feel much colder weather.

In the mid-Atlantic and northern Virginia, the report said that temperatures in the 30s are set from Friday night to Saturday morning.

Colder temperatures

As the coldest air season is set this week, parts of the United States could expect the chill breeze of the air.

According to the AccuWeather latest weather update:

  • Parts of Michigan, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, and Chicago will reach the 30s expected on Thursday night.
  • Cold air is also likely in Detroit and portions of Cleveland by Friday night.
  • Northern Virginia will feel the 30s by Friday night to Saturday morning.
  • Snow would likely happen in parts of northern Michigan and Minnesota on Thursday night.
  • Parts of Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington D.C would feel a temperature shift.
  • On the other hand, parts of the north in Canada would feel lower temperatures, possibly with a bit of moisture. Ontario and Thunder Bay would feel small slushy of snow.

Tropical systems and coastal storms

On the other hand, coastal storms could affect portions of Long Island and Southeastern Virginia, which might cause small coastal flooding, heavy rainfall, rough surf, and increasing northeast winds.

Coastal and flood warnings are in effect in the said areas. Read here the latest coastal storm update.

Furthermore, the National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring two tropical systems in the Atlantic basin that might develop into tropical storms.

The Hurricane Center located the tropical systems: in Eastern Tropical Atlantic, moving to Carlo Verde; and East of Windward Islands, moving to the eastern Caribbean Sea.
