Houston, TEXAS - Forecast data shows potential street flogging in some areas for the last few days of August.

Matt Lanza, one of the experts from Space City Weather, says that most places will experience at least a little rain today, and some of it may be quite heavy, causing some street flooding in certain areas. Although Houston is delaying an upgrade to Stage 1 of the flood scale, some neighborhoods today are likely to experience some minor flooding.

Today

Although Houston is delaying an upgrade to Stage 1 of the flood scale, some neighborhoods today are likely to experience some minor flooding. The likelihood of heavier rainfall will be greatest in areas to downtown Houston's east and south areas, which most likely include Beaumont and Port Arthur.

Today's temperatures are expected to be significantly below average due to clouds and showers, with the majority of locations seeing 80s and some areas near College Station seeing low 90s.

Tuesday

Tomorrow's forecast is still quite promising for locally heavy rain. Throughout the day, keep an eye out for sporadic to numerous storms and showers. Not everyone will experience rain tomorrow due to their nature, but those who do may experience some fairly significant precipitation. More on this Tuesday morning.

Rest of the week

As Houston returns to a more regular pattern of daily storms and showerd connected to the sea breeze and daytime heating, things do appear to calm down a little bit from Wednesday through Friday.

Not everyone will experience rain tomorrow due to their nature, but those who do may experience some fairly significant precipitation. Daytime highs will be similar to average or possibly a little bit cooler than average, with lows in the 70s and highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

Labor Day weekend

The good news is that in the past day or so, the models that had been active in developing a tropical system close to the Yucatan late this week and over the weekend have scaled back a little. That means the outlook for Texas' Labor Day weekend shouldn't be affected by it at all; instead, there should just be a few scattered showers and storms every day, with highs that are just a few degrees above 90.

Rest of the tropics

Although the National Hurricane Center's five-day outlook lists four areas to watch, the remaining areas of the tropics continue to appear active today. As was mentioned in yesterday's tropical outlook, none of these regions are particularly dangerous for the state or the Gulf Coast.

Although there is currently no model guidance that indicates any concern for the coming week or longer, experts will keep monitoring, especially the one that could develop close to the Lesser Antilles, Space City Weather reports.
