Severe Weather, Damaging Winds, Heavy Rain Cap the Week for Chicago, Warm Temperatures Start Next Week

This weekend, there may be some severe weather in the Chicago region. This includes the potential for flooding, strong winds, and precipitation.

Meanwhile, the following week will bring the first signs of warmth.

The National Weather Station (NWS) said that Saturday will see several waves of storms and showers pass through the region.

On Saturday afternoon and into the evening, a few storms could develop into severe ones, especially for regions south of Interstate 80.

Air and Water Show

The NWS added that the main dangers this weekend are damaging winds and lots of rain.

While there have been intermittent downpours at the beach on Saturday morning, if the weather holds, Chicago will get a special return of the Air and Water Show.

Many city dwellers are already aware of the practice, which involves the Blue Angels flying around their buildings. The practice has been steadily going on for days.

It is hoped that this will continue on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Both the Golden Knights Parachute Team and the Blue Angels will be on display this year.

The show will also feature the Chicago Police Department Helicopter and the Chicago Fire Department Air/Sea Rescue.

There will be a lot to take in, and typically, lines form fairly early.

Flash Flood Warning

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for parts of southwest Winnebago and northwest Ogle counties on Saturday morning, according to the NWS, but the warning has since been canceled.

Later on Saturday, more storms as well as showers are predicted to move through the area.

Although there isn't a chance of severe weather in those areas, there is a chance of gusty winds and relatively short rain.

After thunderstorms generated heavy downpours overnight in the northwest and northeast Illinois, the NWS advised drivers to exercise caution while driving.

The storms may cause ponding on the roads and decreased visibility.

Rain chances will gradually diminish Sunday afternoon as rounds of storms and showers continue into Sunday, according to the NWS.

Starting off the following week, warming temperatures within the upper 70s and 80s are anticipated, Eyewitness News ABC7 reported.

Chicago Weather for the Next Ten Days

After Saturday's thunderstorms and gusty winds that will linger until Sunday, the following week will start with a warm temperature of 74 degrees and waning chances of rain.

The temperature will reach 81 degrees into the week as partly cloudy to generally clear skies give way for outdoor activities.

However, the start of the following week, August 29, will render the skies with scattered thunderstorms with a 58% chance of rain, despite the 80-degree temperature.

The rain will continue until the first day of next month with the temperature dropping to 75 degrees.

It will stop raining momentarily on Friday, September 2, and will resume with scattered thunderstorms on the third, The Weather Channel reported.
