After the heatwave, severe weather with isolated tornadoes and storms looms in and pours over the city for two days. After that, citizens will get to enjoy a partly sunny weekend with low humidity.

There will be another chance soon for those who missed out on the few lovely days we had this weekend.

The tri-state area may experience a few isolated thunderstorms during the first two days of heat and humidity.

Although the likelihood of storms decreases by Friday, Thursday and Friday both have higher humidity than the previous few days. The risk zone shifts south on Friday as the system moves again through the tri-state region.

Any storms that develop on either day are likely to start in the middle of the afternoon and pose a threat into the evening.

Both days have a low likelihood of severe weather, but Thursday and areas far north of New York City have a slightly higher chance.

In some places, storms could begin to develop as early as 2 PM.

At this point, damaging winds and torrential rain appear to be the main threats, although hail is also a possibility.

Possible Isolated Tornado and Storms

An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, as is frequently the case with severe weather.

This week's storms that ended the heat wave in the New York region will be less concentrated, and some of them may not produce any lightning or thunder at all.

The next chance for storms arrives Friday when a new cold front passes through.

With regard to that system's risk, South Jersey is more likely to experience potentially severe weather than other regions.

Again, there is very little risk. Over the next two days, most should experience sporadic showers.

Partly Sunny Weekend

The weather dramatically improves after the storms pass, with a lovely weekend forecast of temperatures in the mid- to high 80s and partly sunny skies.

Additionally, the lower humidity should last for a few days.

After two occasionally record-breaking heat waves this month--with the second heatwave lasting a dreadful full week--New York City will experience yet another welcome respite.

Early August could bring another one to the region's attention.

It is expected to get warmer at the end of the week, which could bring about the third heat wave of the season and another stretch of days with temperatures of 90 degrees or higher, NBC New York reported.

Humid See-Saw

Humidity in the region will rise and dip for the coming days making a play on sticky to comfortable days.

The wet and rainy Thursday and Friday will bring high humidy at 70%. The weekend will be much more comfortable with significantly lower humidity at 47%.

However, The Weather Channel data shows another humid set of days as the following week starts on Monday with 59% and 61% on Tuesday.

NYC Air Quality

AccuWeather data detects poor air quality for July 28.

Because of the high level of pollution, the air is unhealthy for vulnerable populations.

If you experience symptoms like throat irritation or breathing difficulties, limit your time spent outside.
