With the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend quickly approaching, many people are worrying about the weather as the country begins to prepare for street parties and festivities
The four-day bank holiday weekend begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2nd, with a special jubilee version of central London's famous Trooping The Colour procession.
Sunshine and warm weather conditions again in the UK
Today was the warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures reaching 27.5 (81.5F) in certain sections of the country, as per Dailymail.
People flocked to beaches in Bournemouth, Weymouth, and Brighton, and sunbathers soaked up the sunshine in Lancashire.
People were seen swimming and surfing at Tynemouth beach in the northeast, while Londoners rushed to the city's parks to enjoy the weather farther south in the capital.
Parts of the nation will be warmer than Greek islands like Santorini, Crete, and Mykonos, and temperatures will even exceed Los Angeles in California by Tuesday afternoon.
However, clouds and heavy rain in the west are forecast to creep towards central parts of the UK on Tuesday evening, according to the Met Office.
Temperatures are expected to gradually fall as the week progresses and the air mass moves, sending in cleaner air and temperatures closest to the seasonal normal.
According to Met Office forecaster Oli Claydon, an air mass moving on up from the south is helping to bring some warm air with it, which is why we're experiencing some of the hottest temperatures of the year.
That's the same reason we've been getting storms over the last few days.
Rain will move farther inland overnight, with showers expected in northern England, Scotland, central and southern England, and Wales.
According to Donal Consideine of the Meteo Group, there will be an east-west divide in the north and south throughout Tuesday.
A band of rain is lying over the Irish Sea, which means that some of the South West will be very wet during the day, while most of the south, particularly the southeast, will be dry and mild with sunny periods.
Joyous and warm climate on Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend
While it is too early to give an official forecast, the weather for the weekend looks great, with plenty of sunlight anticipated.
According to Sky News' weather producer Kirsty McCabe, "at the moment, it seems like the weather will grow drier and calmer as we approach the end of May, with high pressure being the dominating feature through the first week of June."
That implies we may expect mostly dry, calm, and pleasant weather with plenty of sunlight throughout the Jubilee weekend.
She said that the forecast model can't provide specifics this far in advance, so it's important to keep an eye on the details closer to the time. The current forecast, on the other hand, suggests weather suitable for a Queen, as per Sky News.
She said that high pressure in the British summers frequently provides lovely, pleasant weather and little breezes.
The Met Office reiterated the possibility of bright weather ahead of the jubilee weekend, stating that temperatures will be above average in the south but closer to average further north through June.
However, it noted that the weather may become "less settled" throughout the north of the UK by mid-June, bringing rain or showers, while the south may remain generally fine.
It comes as the UK has had some hot spells this spring, with the South East achieving its warmest day of the year so far on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 27.5 degrees Celsius (81.5F).
