The Offensive Video

According to ABC News, the Kuwait Minister of Interior has released a statement about the incident. The man, whose statements about the dust storm they deemed as "offensive," will be taken into custody. An investigation will also be launched.

The video was initially posted on Tiktok. The Egyptian resident was ranting about the bad weather that has been plaguing Kuwait for the past few days.

The man said in a dashboard camera video that pointed to the road: "I'm in a dust storm right now, I literally can't see anything in front me. Fine, Kuwait, fine," he kept on with an Arabic expletive word.

Meanwhile, on social media, anger grew among people who did not agree to any restrictions on free speech and bad treatment of migrant workers. In protest, many publicized videos of their own, ranting about the weather as the man did.

Home to Migrant Workers

Kuwait, a little sheikdom that is the home to many migrant workers from all over Southeast Asia, Africa, and parts of the Middle East, frequently makes use of a cybercrime law to round up people who condemn the police and political dissidents.

Kuwait, country of the Arabian Peninsula sited in the northwestern corner of the Persian Gulf. A tiny emirate nestled between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait is located in a section of one of the driest, least-accomodating deserts on Earth. Its shore, however, includes a deep harbour on the Persian Gulf, Kuwait Bay.
