After receiving criticism from his "bombing" at SNL, Elon Musk faces another set of media fire after calling for Carbon tax on Twitter.
It is high time there was a carbon tax!

Carbon Tax
Elon Musk recently reaffirmed his support for a carbon tax in the United States, a previously stated position. According to a 2020 poll, two-thirds of American voters support Musk's proposal for a carbon tax. Musk said in a tweet that it is "about time" for a carbon tax. This is similar to a sentiment he expressed earlier this year on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Elon Musk disclosed that he consulted with the Biden administration regarding the possibilities of imposing a carbon tax in the United States while sharing his experiences with the noted podcaster.
Working with the Biden Administration
The Biden administration allegedly told Musk at the time that enacting a carbon tax would be "too politically complex." Despite this, Musk said that a carbon tax "should" be implemented.
Yale Poll
According to a poll conducted by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communications, 67 percent of registered voters in the United States support forcing businesses to pay a tax on CO2 emissions generated and using the money to cut other taxes, such as the federal income tax, by an equivalent amount. SpaceX
One of such carbon-producing businesses will be Elon Musk's private space venture, SpaceX. Musk has already confirmed that if the Biden administration implements such a scheme, he can pay the carbon tax imposed on SpaceX. "By the way, SpaceX will be subject to a carbon tax as well. So I'm like, you know, I believe we can pay that as well. It's not as if we shouldn't have carbon-producing devices. It's just all this material has to be paid for," Musk said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The poll was conducted by the Yale Program in December 2020, and the results were published in 2021. According to the results, 91% of liberal Democrats favored taxing fossil fuel firms, while 82% of moderate/conservative Democrats agreed. According to the survey, a carbon tax was also sponsored by 55 percent of liberal/moderate Republicans and 36 percent of conservative Republicans.
Reducing Emissions
Elon Musk believes that imposing a carbon tax is the most effective way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Joe Rogan Podcast
Musk told Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, "My top advice, frankly, will be to only add a carbon tax." "The economy is in perfect shape. Prices and capital are only indicators... If the price is incorrect, the market will not act appropriately."
There is currently no clear monetary penalty for companies and enterprises that emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere; in other words, it is currently free to emit greenhouse gases, the most important and widespread of which is carbon dioxide. When fossil fuels such as coal and gas are burnt, carbon dioxide is released. Carbon dioxide in excess in the atmosphere absorbs heat and contributes to global warming.
