1. Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata)

Snake plants are not difficult to care for and they are quite forgiving. They also have a huge visual impact, with upwardly pointing, angular leaves that are dramatic. They grow slowly, so they don't need repotting.

Plant Care Tips

Light: Partial light; permits some sun and shade.

Water: Water frequently, letting soil dry well before rewatering.

Soil: Rich, potting mix that is well-draining.

Pet Safety: Poisonous to dogs and cats.

2. Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

Spider plants are very good communicators, which is why they're one of the best plants for beginners. When they require water, the tips of their leaves will turn brown. When they are watered too much, their long leaves will flop and appear waterlogged.

Plant Care Tips

Light: Bright, partial light.

Water: Frequent watering, but let the plant dry between waterings.

Soil: Frequent houseplant potting soil.

Pet Safety: They are not toxic but cats love to play with them and chew on their leaves at times, which will make the cat to throw up (like any plant).
