The two halves reveal deep blue quartz crystals making up the 'face' and two circular pieces of rock-forming its eyes.

Just exactly like the face of the Cookie Monster, the rare rock's face can be described as a large lifeless monster with a toothless smile.

Bowser, the California-based geologist specializing in the collection of this rock, estimates the rock to be worth a profound $10,000 due to its obscurity.

Other Rare Rocks

Rare rocks like diamonds, for instance, is formed more than 160 kilometers (100 miles) beneath the earth's surface. It's one of the most cherished rocks available.

Tiny diamonds, for instance, form in meteorites crashing to Earth from space. And some of those meteorites have carbon atoms in them, Andrew Christy, a curator of mineralogy at the Queensland Museum, Brisbane, Australia explains.

Christy added that when a meteorite blasts through Earth's atmosphere, it's capable of generating shockwaves of heat and pressure. "Those shockwaves passing through that carbon (in the meteorite) will create tiny, tiny diamonds," Christy explains.
