No matter what products you use or how you go about it, you probably wash your hair pretty often. As most people are taught from a young age, washing your hair every day has always been the norm. While washing your hair every day may seem like the right thing to do, it actually isn't the best thing to keep your gorgeous locks nice and healthy. There is no right answer for everyone though on how often you should wash your hair, so we will break it all down for you.

If Your Hair is Fine:

Fine hair is both a blessing and a curse; easy to take care of and maintain but will air your dirty laundry like there's no tomorrow. Because it's so fine, oil shows even when you hair doesn't really have that much oil. Seeing this greasy look will make you want to wash your hair even more but try not to give into that temptation (we promise it's not as bad as you think). Give your hair a wash every other day and give yourself a spritz of dry shampoo on your off day if the grease is really driving you crazy.

If Your Hair is Thick:

Thick hair is great at disguising oils because of the hair follicles being denser. While you may be thinking you don't want to have oils sitting in your scalp, they're actually supposed to be there. Your natural oils are essential to maintaining the health of your hair and protects your scalp from the sun. So, letting your natural oils sit there for a few days will be extremely beneficial. Wash your hair one to two times a week and you will keep your hair and scalp happy and healthy.

If Your Hair Has Loose Curls or Waves:

While curls are usually a sign of thick hair, fine hair can also have a natural curl. So, some of the hair products that are marketed toward curly hair may not be your best bet. The oils in them may weigh down your hair instead of letting your loose locks flow. Try using a shampoo and conditioner that is light yet moisturizing, washing your hair two to three times a week.

If Your Hair is Super Curly:

If you have curly hair, you probably experience some dryness. Whether it be in your scalp or at the ends of your hair, you probably won't want to part from your natural oils for as long as possible because of this dryness. Using other moisturizing products is a must for this type of hair, so you definitely won't be washing your hair daily. Wash your hair one to two times a week to keep your stunning curls in their best condition.

If Your Hair is Oily:

If you over wash your hair, there is a good chance that your hair will overproduce oils to try to make up for what it's losing. But if you have tried giving your hair a break from washes and the oil still just keeps on coming, you probably just have naturally oily hair. Give you hair a wash every other day to keep it in check and use dry shampoo if needed.

Washing your hair is not nearly as scary as it may seem. There really is no right or wrong answer, no matter what type of hair you have. No two heads of hair are the same, so you may not match the standard fit. At the end of the day, do what feels best for your hair. After all, no one else knows your head better than you do.
