Puma Introduces BeatBot Training Robot, Lets You Compete Against Usain Bolt

Introducing BeatBot, a unique, state of the art trainer robot exclusively developed by Puma, a Germany-based Sportswear multinational.

BeatBot is a programmable, self-driving robot designed to aide athletes and to accompany them during training to help them overcome their limitations.

Designed with advertising agency J. Walter Thompson New York, BeatBot is Puma's big step towards diversification. From wearability, the company has now ventured to raceability.

With a speed you can set at your own pace, this robot race trainer can run as fast and even beat the 27.7 miles per hour (44.6 kilometers per hour) record of Usain Bolt, a Jamaican Olympian known as the fastest man alive.

When asked what he can say about the release of this device which puts his title at risk, "Running against an invisible clock will never be as motivating as running against someone - or something", said Usain, according to Leader Call.

Puma's robot is as big as the company's regular shoe box. It is meant to motivate athletes during training as creators find it more stimulating running with the goal of breaking records.

Making more than 100 manoeuvres per second, BeatBot can stay on the line no matter how long the track would be.

It is built with 9 infrared sensors to track the speed and the distance as well as the revolution of the wheel. Go Pro cameras are also installed in front and at the back for real time monitoring and is loaded with LED lights.

As of the moment, BeatBot is only available for Puma-sponsored athletes. But Puma plans to make this innovation available and affordable to average consumers, as per The Inside Korea.

Created with the help of NASA robotics engineer and three MIT graduates, Florent Imbert, J. Walter Thompson New York executive creative director said they have already finished eight prototypes of the robot, The Daily Croton reported.
