"Supersize me", no more. It looks like McDonalds are finally heeding to the demand for healthier fast food. They recently announced that they are releasing at McDonald's Chicken McNuggets which are free from artificial preservatives.

According to a report by Huffington Post, they said that the popular chicken is going natural. The global fast food chain is drastically changing the fast food industry with their first step in selling chickens which are free from artificial preservatives.

McDonald's is currently in the testing phase in selling their new McNuggets and is currently being sold in 14 restaurants.

Crain's Chicago Business reported that McDonald's hopes to spread their new healthier McNuggets supply so it will be available in the whole of U.S. this year.

The trial period was initiated last month in restaurants in Southwest Washington State and in Portland. McDonalds said that the new chicken is made with simpler recipe and that they have removed artificial preservatives in the process.

McDonald's refused to reveal the actual ingredients but according to their website, their chicken McNuggets are "are made with USDA-inspected white meat. They're tempura battered and cooked to golden perfection. Step up the fun with your choice of our delectable dipping sauces"

According to the same report, the fast food chain is preparing to roll out their "clean-label" campaign before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"This is very much a test... More than ever, customers care about where their food comes from and how it is prepared." Becca Hary, a McDonald's spokeswoman, did not confirm the campaign and stated that there are no announcement to be made.

It is perceived that the food chain giant is responding to the changing demands and diet of the public. Healthy and clean eating has been a trend for some time now and once everyone joined the bandwagon, the fast food industry will be highly affected.
