Our Planet: Earth Day Homages From NASA, EPA, And More [VIDEOS]

As people around the globe celebrate Earth Day, the web is abloom with thousands of Internet homages to Mother Earth. In many places, this entire week has been marked as a time of celebration, reflection and compassion for our blue planet, and many more take the whole month of April for Earth Month festivities.

In honor of Earth Day, we offer below a few of the best Earth Day tributes on the web.

NASA astronauts have arguably the best views of the Earth and in the video below shows Earth from their perspective in orbit, including some great footage of an eerie green aurora from an extraterrestrial perspective.

The Huffington Post is giving Earth Day a lot of coverage, including this compilation of animal stories from the past week, including the below video of a baby giraffe frolicking outside for the first time.

The site also set up this slideshow of animal pics, which includes cute pictures of a baby lemurs and pandas.

The Environmental Protection Agency has set up a photoblog that examines the state of the environment. 

Last but certainly not least, The Baltimore Sun has compiled a lengthy slideshow of Earth pics from outer space, including aerials of erupting volcanoes, wildfires, tropical storms and Earth city lights at night.
