Southern China Latest Weather Report
According to a weather report published on June 18, Southern China suffered from rounds of heavy rain, and flooding, causing immediate evacuations in the affected areas. At least nine people died from the hazardous weather conditions, while thousands were advised to evacuate.
In addition, over 378 houses collapsed due to the impacts of challenging weather, and 880 hectares of crops were damaged in the Wuping area. This extensive damage is expected to result in economic losses and impact the lives of affected farmers.
Packed with strong winds and heavy rains, over 130,000 households suffered widespread power outages in Meizhou.
In Fujian province, Wuping County experienced rounds of flooding rain. At least four people died, and two were reportedly missing. Meanwhile, Guangdong province recorded five deaths, while 15 remained missing.
To help with affected residents in Southern China, authorities deployed rescue teams to look for survivors. Helicopters also aided in assisting affected communities.
Because of the flooded areas and increasing concerns in the Hanjiang River, over 11,000 people were immediately evacuated. Additionally, Guizhou province evacuated over 1,100 people.
According to a Nature World News (NWN) report, on April 23, over 100,000 people were also evacuated in Southern China due to deadly floodwaters and heavy rains.
