Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate activist slammed world leaders attending the G7 summit, after photos of a "steak-and-lobster-BBQ-celebration" were posted online.
Swedish Climate Activist Calls Out World Leaders
Taking to Twitter on June 13, Thunberg, an 18-year-old called-out those that attended the summit for failing to take the "climate and ecological crisis" seriously.
Thunberg wrote on Sunday: "G7 spends fantasy amounts on fossil fuels as CO2 emissions are forecast for 2nd biggest annual rise ever. She said this calls for steak-and-lobster-BBQ-celebration while jet planes carry out aerobatics in the sky above the G7 resort!
She added in a follow-up tweet, "The G7 leaders actually seem to be having a great time presenting their empty climate commitments and repeating past unmet promises."
Her tweet came just hours after pictures from one of the final G7 summit events were posted online by Boris Johnson, U.K. Prime Minister. The photos show world leaders like U.S. President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron enjoying drinks, a barbeque and a show by the Red Arrows jet planes.

Thunberg Criticizes Boris Johnson
Johnson was also criticized for taking a plane to the event in England, when he could have used a train or car, particularly as climate change was one of the major topics set to be talked about during the summit.
It's not the first time Thunberg has been glad to take on presidents and prime ministers. Back in 2019, when Thunberg visited Canada, she gave a speech in Vancouver and took aim at world leaders particularly.
"They are so scared of being unknown and for making uncomfortable decisions," she said at the time, adding that It's like they are giving away our futures for their comfort and gain.
And yet, they have the effrontery to look us in the eyes and say that they are doing enough. Thunberg also blasted Justin Trudeau for "not doing enough" when it comes to dealing with the climate crisis, to which the Canadian PM responded, "I'm listening."
