Earlier forecasts have already declared summer-like heat in southeastern parts of the US. In the meantime, places like Las Vegas should expect the first triple-digit days in the coming week. Specifically, temperatures are expected to go beyond the 100 degree threshold on the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
Preparing for summer-like heat for Vegas trips
That said, the upcoming Memorial Day weekend (and the days beyond) is expected to attract a lot of returning visitors to Vegas in light of vaccine rollouts and a gradual return to the New Normal.
That said, it is important to know that travelers should still comply with some COVID-related regulations while also preparing for the hot days ahead. But before that, here is just a quick list of what you need to watch out when heading out to the strip.
1. Sun protection
Remember, you don't need to be at a beach to put on some sun tan. Hot days means a lot of UV radiation that could damage your skin and make them cancerous. Make sure to wear a nice hat that covers most of your head or alternatively, stay in the shade as much as you can.
2. Avoid long hours in the car.
If you are heading to Vegas via road trip, then you definitely have to watch out for prolonged time in the car. Traffic reports have already confirmed that they have returned to pre-COVID levels. But with these high temperature days coming in, road trippers need to plan accordingly to avoid any heat strokes or other similar incidents.
3. Stay hydrated.
Whether on a road trip or just heading out to a casino, make sure you still have a lot of water on hand. It can take less than an hour to dehydrate when temperatures go beyond 90 degrees. And obviously, water works far better than soda or alcohol.

Vegas has rising temperature but relaxing restrictions
With Nevada gaming regulators removing many pandemic restrictions, one might be misled to think that everything is completely back to normal. In reality, there are still some restrictions that are always in effect. Even with half of the American population fully vaccinated, the CDC is not taking any more chances. Be mindful of the following when heading out to town.
1. Masks
If you have not been vaccinated, then you are still required to wear a mask. And even if you are, places like public transportation will still require mask wearing out of consideration for the general public. That includes even going on a ride on the Las Vegas monorail. Some restaurants and buffets may still require masks upon entry.
2. Entertainment
While casinos are operating at 100% with slot machines and tables, visitors will find that this may be the only main form of entertainment for a while. Lounge shows and large conventions are still a ways away as establishments try to make back their losses from the pandemic. So if you were hoping to do something in Vegas outside of hotels and a good gamble, then consider waiting a little longer.
3. Extra fees
Alongside casinos, some hotels will also be charging extra to make up for their own share of losses. Some of these include fees that may be understandable but there are also those that could be considered exploitative. Take extra precaution when choosing a place to stay and try to have a bigger budget on your trip.
In any case, after more than a year of quarantining, it does not look like even the high temperatures are going to keep American travelers from hitting the Strip once more.
