Severe Food Poisoning After Eating Sea Turtle Meat
Consuming sea turtle meat is part of the delicacy in Zanzibar, despite warnings of health impacts. In the latest news reports, the meat caused the deaths of eight children. Additionally, 78 people more showed signs of food poisoning and were hospitalized.
Laboratory tests were made to confirm the deaths from food poisoning, and records showed that the victims ate the meat from sea turtles.

Exposure to salmonella by touching contaminated areas can happen because tiny turtles can spread germs. As a result, homeowners should avoid buying small turtles that are less than four inches long.
The CDC also advises people to sanitize when they become exposed to small turtles. Children should avoid snuggling or cuddling with small turtles like kissing. For owners, it is best to always monitor your tanks, and clean them from time to time. The best tank cleaning is to keep away from the kitchen or indoors to avoid the spread of germs.
