The Northeastern United States can expect a sudden warmup and mild weather next week after a blast of colder weather that brought freezing temperatures and challenging weather conditions.
The rapid but intense wave of polar vortex and arctic brought unleashed significant cold in the Northeast.
In the South, CNN reported that last week's powerful ice storm unloaded freezing temperatures that froze power lines and trees.
The report said that the ice storm in Texas left eight casualties and widespread power outages, making it more difficult for Texans to cope with the cold weather.
Recently, CNN reported that wind chill alerts put 15 million people in the United States at risk.
Milder weather outlook and warmup in the Northeast
According to AccuWeather's latest weather forecast, the report said that temperatures would rebound in the Northeast, bringing a milder weather outlook this February.
Although the polar vortex is considered a natural phenomenon, it unleashed colder weather in the Northeast, the United Kingdom and Canada.
AccuWeather's outlook on Sunday showed that milder weather with chances of snow showers is expected:
- Milder weather is forecast in Pittsburgh, Washington D.C, Boston and Syracuse.
- New York would expect milder weather with possible rain next week. Recently, the state recorded the first measurable snowfall ending the 300-day snowless streak.
- In the afternoon, the forecast noted that the weather would reach a milder state in Detroit, Charlotte, Washington D.C., Jacksonville, Boston and Quebec City.
The warmup of weather would be ideal for outdoor activities this week, especially those planned canceled last week due to the weather conditions.
On Monday, the weather report said residents and motorists in the Northeast would expect dry and mild conditions in Detroit, Toronto, Pittsburg, Washington D.C, New York and Syracuse.
For the entire month of February, warmer and possibly colder air would emerge in the Northeast.
AccuWeather says colder air would reach Seattle, Billings, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, New York City and Kansas City.
Meanwhile, the warmer air would unfold in Houston, Dallas, Miami, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Memphis and Dallas.
Next week would be ideal for homeowners to check their homes for possible repairs after the ice storm unleashed challenging weather conditions.
In addition, car owners should ensure that their cars are well-conditioned after days of ice storms and troublesome weather.
Mountain snow and avalanche alerts in Sierra and Central Nevada
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service reported that a moderate, strong winter storm is expected to unload in Western Nevada and Sierra this Sunday.
The weather forecast warned of significant travel disruptions next week, especially on Monday.
Due to the threat of the winter storm, NWS said that a possible avalanche alert was issued in the Central Sierra and Eastern Nevada Mountains.
The chance of an avalanche would be life-threatening, especially next week. Those planning to hike mountains or travel near the affected areas should consider the weather conditions.
