Another Winter System Moves Through Ohio, Several Parts Under Winter Storm Watch as Lake Effect Snow Sets In

Ohio is anticipating the passage of another winter system through the region. Winter Storm Watches are in effect in some areas. Lake Effect Snow will start to fall by midweek.

Later today, the next winter system will progress into the Cleveland area. The morning commute will be uneventful, but evening showers with additional rain and a wintry mix will move in overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. There will likely be little to no snow accumulation.

Lake Effect Snow, Winter Storm Watch

The main Snowbelt regions are expecting 2 to 4 inches of lake effect snow Wednesday into Thursday, while the majority of the region will see at most a trace. Early on Wednesday, there are some dry spells followed by lake-effect snow that is mostly directed east with a west wind. There won't be much snowfall in the south. For Cleveland, Summit, northern Medina, and Portage Counties, several inches of snow are predicted, FOX8 reports.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch and Hazardous Weather Outlook for Ashtabula County. The Watch will start Wednesday evening through Thursday evening, while the Outlook Starts today and will be in effect for the next seven days. There could be 7′′ of heavy lake effect snowfall in the area.

On Wednesday night, lake-effect rain is anticipated to change to lake-effect snow. Thursday morning's pre-dawn snowfall will be more intense, with snowfall rates possibly reaching an inch per hour. Thursday's daytime snowfall will become less intense, and by Thursday night, the most coordinated snow bands will begin to form over the lake.

Health and Activities in Ashtabula Ohio

According to AccuWeather, allergens won't be a problem today, except for dust and dander. The weather would also prove to be poor for fishing, golf, beach and pool activities, and stargazing.

Activities such as running, biking, and cycling, as well as driving to travel, could be a little challenging. It is also recommended to hold off on home and garden chores such as mowing the lawn, composting, and outdoor entertaining.

While the weather puts low risks of mosquitoes flying and biting about, there is a high risk for indoor pests to invade homes because of the cooler temperatures.

Ashtabula, Ohio 10-Day Forecast

After the rainshower on Tuesday, snow will blanket Ashtabula until Friday at 1.2" to 1.7 inches. By Saturday, temperatures will drop to 30 degrees and by Sunday, Lake effect flurries and squalls are possible with snow accumulating to 6". Chances of precipitation will also shoot up to 91%. Temperatures will pick up for the next few days starting Monday, November 21. Highs will reach 44 degrees on Wednesday, November 24.

Snow Day Forecast

Ashtabula will see a 20% chance of school closures by tomorrow, Wednesday, and a 50% Chance by Thursday. It will be very unlikely for any school closures in the area by Friday and onwards.

On Thursday, There will be a high risk of weather that will make school busses stop uncomfortable or unsafe. This will continue into the weekend.
