Wind Advisory Issued for Most of Mid-State as Line of Storms Move Through Tennessee and Kentucky

Today, a line of storms is expected to move through Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky as a strong cold front quickly makes its way toward the Mid State.

As locals are leaving for the day on Tuesday morning, the weather is calm and quiet with no significant weather issues predicted.

But be sure to bring an umbrella because a line of rain showers and storms is predicted to move across the Mid State by the afternoon.

The wind will increase throughout the morning and into this afternoon, even before storms start to form.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the majority of the Mid State in areas where daytime wind gusts of 40+ MPH are possible.

Make sure that each piece of outdoor décor or furniture is anchored through today.

The region will be tracking a line of storms and downpours that will move through the mid-state into the afternoon.

Timing Forecast

From 1 PM to 3 PM, storms moved into West Middle Tennessee.

Between 3 PM and 5 PM, storms will pass through the I-65 corridor, which includes downtown Nashville. The line continues to move into the Cumberland Plateau between 5 PM and 8 PM before completely moving out of the area.

A brief spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out, but damaging straight-line winds of 60+ mph will be the main threat for the area with any thunderstorm.

On Wednesday, the temperature drops back into the 60s behind the front.

After returning to the lower and mid-seventies on Thursday and Friday, the region will be watching the next storm system, which is expected to bring some showers during the Halloween weekend, WSMV reported.

Wind Advisory

The National Weather Service-Nashville office issued a Wind Advisory for most of middle Tennessee, according to The Weather Channel.

South winds are moving at 15 to 25 mph with gusts over 40 mph.

The advisory was issued at 9 AM and will remain in effect until 7 PM today, October 25, 2022.

Weather officials warn that Strong winds may blow unsecured objects around. There may be a few power outages and tree limbs that are blown down.

Locals are urged to drive with extra caution, especially if driving a visible vehicle.

Hazardous Weather Outlook

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for areas located in the middle of Tennessee, according to the National Weather Service-Nashville office.

The announcement was given out at 2:48 AM on Tuesday, October 25,  and will remain in effect for the next few days.

Forecasts predicted strong, gusty winds on Day One, which is today and tonight, with sporadic gusts of over 40 mph.

This afternoon and early this evening, there is a chance for severe thunderstorms. Areas located southwest of Interstate 24 has a low-risk rating of 2 out of 5.

Meanwhile, for areas northeast of Interstate 24, there is a marginal (1 out of 5) risk level. Localized damaging winds will be the main worry, but a brief tornado is not being ruled out just yet.

For Days 2 through 7 or from Wednesday to Monday, no potentially hazardous weather is anticipated as of the moment.
