Fresh salmon daily intake of three grams can significantly mitigate high blood pressure, according to a new study by researchers from China. The findings confirm that omega-3 fatty acids found from the fish can yield a myriad of health benefits, which include helping the average adult to potentially achieve a modest blood pressure reduction.
Omega-3 fatty acids are also known for reducing triglycerides and arterial plaque development. The nutrients are also related in biological components pertaining to the presence of fat, as well as other material in the veins and arteries. Body organs and emotional health could benefit from the fatty acids.
Prior to the new research, scientific evidence already shows that omega-3 fatty acids found not only in salmon but also in other food and dietary supplements yield to reduces the risk of high blood pressure. However, the China-based study claims it is still unclear what the optimal amount of the nutrients should people eat.
High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is a common health condition where there the blood flow is stronger than normal. The elevated pressure is strong enough to damage the arteries, causing either the blockage and prevention of blood flow to the heart. In a media release of the American Heart Association (AHA), researchers from the Macau University of Science in China discovered the average adult could consume the said amount of omega-3 fatty acid.
They highlighted it is an abundant nutrient found not only from salmons but also from sardines and other fatty fish.
Furthermore, the research team concluded the consumption of higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids could benefit people at high risk of incurring cardiovascular disease. Yet, the team claims more research is required.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA) on June 1, wherein it confirmed data from previous research that the ideal daily intake should be three grams.
The scrutiny stems from the fact that previous studies provided a vague relationship between omega-3 and blood pressure. The connection of the fatty acids to increased cognition is even more clear, according to the JAHA study.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states blood pressure is the "pressure" of blood pushing against the arteries' walls.
The US health body says arteries carry blood from the heart to the body and there are instances where blood pressure increases and decreases throughout the day.
The CDC says there are no warnings signs or symptoms of high blood pressure, as many people are unaware, they have it unless they measure it.
While there are a number of causes, high blood pressure is reportedly caused by unhealth lifestyle choices, which include the lack of regular physical activity. Other trigger can yield from certain health conditions like diabetes and obesity.
