An ant swarm allegedly invaded a Brazilian writer's Kindle device and started buying books from Amazon through it, according to social media and news reporting.
The colony of ants apparently decided to try the book-purchasing electronic equipment when its owner temporarily left it, and only to find it was already infested with the small insects when she came back.
Through a blog post, Mariana Vieira, 32, wrote that her virtual library became a nest.
The bookworm started noticing the unusual incident after her Kindle was unable to turn on even when she plugged it in the charging outlet or electricity socket.
Thinking it was due to a connection issue, reports said Vieira blew the charging port and a horde of tiny white ants came out from the device's charging hole.
The incident was also captured on video, which showed the ants eventually crawled out through the screen and the device.
Kindle Device Invasion
On July 27, the bookworm's friend Fabian Guimaraes posted on Twitter in Portuguese language regarding the ordeal that Vieira went through.
The tweet indicated the most bizarre situation that her friend went through; after the ants made a nest in the little hole in the charger after invading the device.
Guimaraes also humored about the fact on how the ants learned buying books.
The Twitter post received over 75,000 likes and 3,400 retweets, which made it viral on social media.
The footage of the incident is shown below with credit to Mariana Vieira/CEN, as posted by the New York Post:

Amazon Book Purchases
The ant invasion occurred while Vieira was away for several weeks while working on a book, according to The Sun.
After restarting her Kindle, it was when the writer realized the ants also purchased several books from Amazon.
In the first instance, the woman received an email from Amazon, congratulating her for purchasing the science fiction classic entitled "Robots and Empire" by Isaac Asimov.
She attempted to contact Amazon and explain there was a mistake.
The UK media outlet narrated that before Amazon could reply, she received another email thanking her for buying another book entitled "O anel de Giges: Uma fantasia etica (The ring of Gyges: An ethical fantasy)" by Eduardo Giannetti, a Brazilian author and economist.
The book purchases were made possible after Vieira enabled the "one-click purchase" option, which allowee her to do the digital transaction with only the tap of a finger.
Unfortunately, the ant's presence in side the device was enough to trigger the purchases.
Ants and Electronic Devices
Ants are known for getting inside electronic devices including air conditioning units, computers, laptops, televisions, and among others.
This is enough to make the gadget or equipment to malfunction or to be completely broken, based on reports in the past.
According to CNET, an American media website, one of the most notorious ant species called tawny crazy ants have a taste for electronics, and they are also responsible for displacing fire ants in multiple parts of the United States.
