A bear attack surprised a Wisconsin couple at their home when the uninvited full-grown bear charged through their window and attacked them.
The couple claimed that the bear died after they "double killed" the animal by stabbing it with a kitchen and shooting it with a firearm.
Both the husband and wife survived the ordeal and only sustained injuries from bites and mauling.
There is no clear indication of what provoked the bear attack, but the recent incidents add to the rarity of such animal attacks across the United States.
Wisconsin Bear Attack
The bear attack occurred at a house near the city of Medford in Wisconsin on Friday night, May 20.
The Wisconsin couple told the Taylor county sheriff's office the bear started its assault when they yelled at it after spotting it eating from their bird feeder.
The sheriff's office stated the bear was an adult female and her cub was seen in the area running away when its mother attacked the home.
Wisconsin state wildlife officials have taken in the bear for testing, according to ABC News.
There were no immediate details regarding the species of the attacking bear.

US Bear Attacks
According to the National Park Service (NPS), bear attacks in the US are as most bears are only interested in protecting their cubs, food, and space.
However, the occurrence of such animal attacks is possible.
Most of these attacks include brown bears or grizzly bears, as well as black bears.
In general, the NPS advises that people must do the following actions to avoid a bear attack or de-escalate the situation:
- Play dead when a brown/grizzly bear attacks you
- Do not play dead when during a black bear attack
- Hike and travel in groups
- Identify yourself as a human through voice and hand gestures
- Stay calm
- Leave whenever possible
The NPS explained that it is initially important for an individual to introduce itself as a human during a bear encounter.
With this method, the bear can identify him or her not as a prey.
However, while these advisories are well-established, there are certain environmental factors that provoke a bear attack, including noise.
In the case of the Wisconsin bear attack, the animal was likely provoked by the shouting noise, based on their provided accounts to the local authorities.
The incident also occurred indoors, making the common setting of a bear attack outdoors completely different.
