Warmer temperature beyond normal is expected in the Northeast US as spring weather is coming this weekend, as per the latest US weather forecast. The spring weather comes in the wake of a massive snowstorm during the last days of the winter season in the country.
Spring Weather
According to AccuWeather meteorologist Renee Duff, spring weather is already set to hit the Northeast throughout the weekend-as temperatures are expected to increase to over 30 degrees Celsius in New England and from mid-50 degrees Celsius to lower-60 degrees Celsius in the Chesapeake Bay region.
In Pennsylvania, the city of Pittsburgh will experience its hottest weather recently with temperatures reportedly reaching the 70s on Thursday, March 17. However, the Northeast may experience a mixture of cold and warm temperatures before the weekend.
The National Weather Service (NWS) on Tuesday, March 15, issued a forecast that warmer temperatures and spring-like weather will return to the Great Lakes, Heartland, and Northeast. There is also a risk of critical fire weather conditions in the Southwest and Southern High Plains.

Current Weather Forecast
The upcoming spring weather in the Northeast comes in the wake of a snowstorm that affected multiple cities and towns in New England. The cities of Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York City, are some of the affected areas on Sunday, March 13.
In addition, the NWS indicated that a storm system still continues to cause rain showers and thunderstorms in the Southeast and likely in the Mid-Atlantic. In addition, severe weather is also forecasted to hit areas from Texas to the Lower Mississippi Valley on Thursday.
Rain and thunderstorms are possible as a storm system has been forecasted to traverse the Ohio Valley and the Northeast on Friday, March 18. Related severe weather is also expected from Detroit to Tennessee Valley.
In the coming days, the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, and Northeast are expected to experience an upward trend of warming temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius above normal, as per the NWS. This trend is likely to intensify even more from the early morning of Saturday, March 19.
Spring Season
Also known as the vernal equinox or spring equinox, the spring season in the US will officially start on Sunday, March 20. This is the climatical period of the year where dormant plants regrow and some hibernating animals awake again, as per Live Science.
The spring season in the US this year is approximately set to last until the end of May. It will be then followed by the summer season from June to August.
Although the spring season is marked by relatively calm and warm weather, it is also the time when tornadoes commonly occur in some parts of the US. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Gulf Coast experiences its tornado season even on the early days of spring.
Still, the occurrence of other weather phenomena like severe weather, hurricanes, cold front, winter storms, and snowstorms is unlikely during the spring season.
Since December 2021, the US experienced a multitude of severe weather linked to the winter season across all regions, causing widespread travel disruption and infrastructural damage.
