If you've moved into a new home and you want to take good care of it, we can help. We can also help if you've lived in your home for a while but you want to start looking after it a little better.

Let's take a look at how you can look after your home and yourself:

Cleaning

Keeping your home clean won't just make it look and feel better, it can also have a positive impact on your health. You don't have to clean for hours every single day, you can have a few dedicated daily and weekly tasks.

Daily:

  • Wash the dishes - Whether you have a huge pile of dishes or just a few, you should wash them every day. Not only is it easier to keep up with the dishes but it also helps to prevent insects and rodents coming into your kitchen.
  • Wipe your kitchen clean - Wipe clean all of the surfaces that you've used.

Weekly:

  • Tidy up every room in your home - Do a bit tidy, put things away, particularly anything that's been on the floor.
  • Wipe down all of the surfaces - Do this in the bathroom, bedrooms, kitchen, office, and other living areas.
  • Vacuum all the floors - Vacuum all the rooms and all the hallways. Pay extra attention to those areas where people eat as there will be crumbs.
  • Clean the floors - Mop the kitchen and bathroom floors and any other hard floor areas you have.
  • Wash all your towels - Bath and hand towels should be washed as should bath mats.

Paperwork

Paperwork is not always very interesting but it can be vital. Make sure you have homeowners insurance, health insurance, and all of your bills are up to date. File your paperwork away tidily so you know where it is when you need to refer to it. This might not seem like the most interesting thing to do, but you'll appreciate it when you can find the documents you need.

Your Laundry

Do your laundry at least once a week. The more often you do your laundry, the fewer dirty clothes you'll have hanging around. Check the labels on every garment so you know how to wash them. If you cannot find a label or tag, opt for a cold wash.

Don't forget to make sure you have enough detergent in stock. Did you know you can use a little less than the detergent manufacturers recommend?

Hang your clothes on a dryer if the weather is not good. If the weather is warm and dry, hang the washing out.

When it comes to your bed sheets, some people prefer to wash them every week. Others think every other week is ok. However, any longer and your bed could get full of bed bugs. Plus, clean sheets feel and smell nice.

Use the above tips to help you make your home a much nicer place. It's amazing how much difference a bit of a clean and tidy can make.
