Donald Trump has been a strong denier of man-made climate change. However, the president-elect of the United States changed recently changed his opinion on climate change saying that "there is some connectivity" between human activities and climate change. He even said he would keep an open mind regarding the issue.
And now, Reince Priebus, who is named as the White House chief of staff for Trump's administration, claims that Trump may have an open mind about the whole climate change issue, but he will still have his default position.
"As far as this issue on climate change - the only thing he was saying after being asked a few questions about it is, look, he'll have an open mind about it but he has his default position, which most of it is a bunch of bunk, but he'll have an open mind and listen to people," explained Mr. Priebus, in a report from Fox News. "I think that's what he's saying."
With this default position, the Trump administration is becoming full of climate change skeptics and deniers. Steve Bannon, a known climate change denier and founder of the far-right news website Breitbart, was appointed as chief White House strategists.
Bannon was once a strong candidate for the position being held by Priebus. However, the Trump party chose Priebus over Bannon for the chief of staff title.
According to the report from Independent, both Priebus and Bannon agree that climate change do not possess the same great threat as radical Islam terrorism to the United States. Bannon even wrote in his website that Obama's support for alternative energies and green policies is madness.
As the previous months being the hottest in the recorded history, it would take more than an "open-minded" president for the U.S. to join the global cause. UN and other worldwide organization are all fixated on Trump and his promises to renegotiate the Paris Agreement and abandon the U.S. funding on UN's climate fund.
