The black bear that walks like a human has been found... again.
The New Jersey bear who is fondly called "Pedals" by social media was first spotted last year in West Milford. According to reports, Pedals suffered from an accident which inflicted injuries on his front legs, forcing him to walk on his hind legs.
Following his first appearance, Pedals was never seen again until last week when a resident named Joe Esposito spotted the bear in Oakland, New Jersey, NJ.com reported.
Esposito informed the world about the good news by posting a video on social media.
"Ran into Pedals The Bear Today 6/20/16!! A lil beat up, But going strong!!," read the caption.
Many thought Pedals would not survive and adapt to the injury he got. Fortunately, the black bear proved them wrong.
The video shows the injured bipedal bear looking well and healthy. NJ.com said he was estimated to weigh approximately 350lbs.
Since posting, the video has garnered almost half a million views.
According to Fox News, there was a petition to relocate Pedals to a sanctuary in New York state, but New Jersey officials have said they won't allow the bear to be captured and transferred to the facility. A GoFund me page was even created to fund his transfer.
Lawrence Hajna, spokesperson for the state's Department of Environmental Protection, said officials expect the bear to survive through next winter.
"The bear has an indomitable spirit," Hajna said in a statement.
Defenders.org said black bears primarily reside in forested area with thick ground vegetation. They are solitary animals, usually foraging for themselves in a large environment, but they are easily adaptable as well.
Males might wander a 15- to 80-square-mile (39- to 207-square-kilometer) home range, notes National Geographic.
They are omnivores who usually eat grass, roots, berries, insects, salmon and small mammals.
In the United States, there are estimated to be over 300,000 individuals.
