Is Florida becoming the next Jurassic park? After man-eating crocodiles have been discovered roaming Florida suburbs, a monstrous alligator has been spotted casually strolling in one of Florida's golf courses.
The 15-foot alligator was caught on camera by a group of golfers.
Charles Helms, who filmed the gator, had been doing his usual play when his group spotted the giant reptile walking towards a lake on the golf course.
"That is the biggest freakin' alligator I have ever seen in my life," Charles Helms exclaims as he took the footage.
Meanwhile, the alligator seemed to not mind the people stunned by his mammoth presence. The alligator continued to walk until it reached the lake.
In an interview, a staff told News 3 that the alligator is like the mascot of the place.
"He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County," Wendy Schofield told the news site.
"He has been here for a very, very long time, he's not new at all. There have been guesses that he's 15 to 16 feet long," she added.
She also added that the exposure will be good for their business as people might be more interested in them now that the video of the alligator went viral on the Internet.
According to Defenders.org, Florida and Louisiana have the largest populations of alligators in America, with each state inhabited by around 1.5 million alligators. This is because the temperature there is just right for the reptiles.
As per the size, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission notes that the Florida state records the longest alligator at a stunning 14 foot 3-1/2 inches. This gator is a male from Lake Washington in Brevard County. The heaviest recorded gator, meanwhile, is a 1,043 pound (13 feet 10-1/2 inches long) male from Orange Lake in Alachua County.
