Service of AYUSH, Government of India and the World Health Organization (WHO) have marked a noteworthy Project Collaboration Agreement (PCA) for participation on advancing the quality, wellbeing and adequacy of the implementation of Yoga and Ayurveda in the health systems.
The PCA was marked by Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Shri Ajit M Sharan and Assistant Director-General, Health Systems and Innovations, WHO, Dr Marie Kieny, in Geneva on 13th May 2016.
The PCA is titled as 'Co-operation on promoting the quality, safety and effectiveness of service provision in traditional and complementary medicine between WHO and AYUSH, India, 2016-2020'. It plans to bolster WHO in the improvement and usage of the 'WHO Traditional and Complementary Medicine Strategy: 2014-2023' and will add to the worldwide advancement of the age old tradition of Indian Systems of Medicine.
The PCA for the period 2016-2020 will convey WHO documents for the first time for preparing in Yoga, and documents for practice in Ayurveda, Unani and Panchakarma. These will contribute essentially to the reinforcing of national limits in guaranteeing the quality, health, and adequacy of customary prescription incorporating into building up administrative structures for conventional drug items and rehearse and advance their joining in national social insurance frameworks.
Talking at a Reception facilitated by India on this event, the AYUSH Minister reviewed the long history and rich legacy of customary pharmaceutical in India and its developing importance in giving all-encompassing and complete social insurance. He emphasized the high need connected by the Government of India for the advancement of conventional prescription both in India and abroad. He also highlighted the various activities attempted to practically incorporate AYUSH in India's national health programs and for accomplishing Universal Health Coverage.
The PCA with WHO is a further acknowledgment of India's rich involvement in the advancement of conventional prescription. It will prepare for India's long-haul cooperation with the WHO in cultivating the worldwide advancement and coordination of AYUSH system of prescription including Ayurveda and Unani in the International Classification of illnesses and the International Classification of Health mediations.
