Flooding, Rainfall, and Landslide Preparedness in Indonesia

As the country braces for the rainy season with flooding risk, people living in flood-prone areas or near rivers and creeks are vulnerable to life-threatening situations. Keeping updated with local weather reports via radio or television can help anticipate a disaster or storm.

In addition, weather preparedness is important to stay safe from challenging weather conditions, like heavy rains and flooding. It can help avoid potential dangers and deaths due to flooding concerns. Here are essential landslide and heavy rain tips:

Homeowners near landslide-prone areas should watch out for landslides when heavy rains unload. It is best to evacuate to shelters or secure areas until the weather improves. Communities are also at risk of flash floods and the rapid flow of floodwaters.

For motorists, limiting outdoor travel in mountainous or affected areas is recommended due to potential slower commutes and falling rocks. In addition, people can likely become stranded at home or in vehicles due to torrential rains. Storing emergency supplies is helpful in times of emergencies or when you will be evacuated.
