Whenever someone buys new office furniture, it's likely that it looks good for about six months. However, once six months have passed, the furniture can start to look worn. The good news is that it's possible to make your new office furniture last a lot longer than you think.

Tighten the Chair Screws Frequently

Screws that are found on assembled chairs can work their way loose over time. One of the best things that you can do to help protect your chair is to tighten the screws frequently. Once a month is usually more than enough, and it can help your chair to keep your back supported.

If you're not sure how to tighten the screws on your chair take a look now. The sooner you look, the soon you can buy the right tools for tightening the screws.

Office chairs tend to be used for around 40 hours a week. This is a lot of usage, and it's no wonder that chairs can begin to appear worn after a while.

Protect the Top of Your Desk

The top of your desk is likely to succumb to a bit of wear and tear over time. Why not consider protecting your desk so you don't have to replace it anytime soon? You may want to put a protective plastic covering on your desk, especially in those areas that see a lot of traffic.

Consider sticking the protective plastic in place, if you can. This will help to prevent the covering from moving around. There are many types of spray adhesives available and they can do the job quickly. Within a few minutes, your desk could be sufficiently protected.

Protect the Carpet/Flooring

Protecting the flooring under your chair and desk is essential. These are areas that can be affected by you rolling your chair backward and forwards. Using a protective layer of plastic that you can find in many office furniture stores can make a huge difference. Just be aware that the plastic protector can move from time to time. However, a quick knock back into place should suffice.

If you find that the protective plastic moves around quite a lot, you may want to consider sticking it in place. Just be aware that you may need to remove it sometime. Try not to stick the protective plastic down too well so you have to use a hammer and chisel to remove it.

Consider Rearranging Your Furniture

Rearranging your furniture from time to time is one of the best ways to keep it in great condition. This is because you'll see where any wear and tear is happening, and you're likely to do something about it. Rearranging your furniture can also mean that you're more likely to have even wear and tear on chairs, cushions, arm rests, and desks.

Use the above tips to help you to make your office furniture last longer. The more you look after your office furniture, the longer it will be around to help you do your job.
